1. UP private schools closed on August 8.

"Uttar Pradesh Private Schools to Close in Solidarity with Arrested Principal and Teacher: On August 8, private schools in Uttar Pradesh affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, and UP Board will remain closed as a gesture of support for a school principal and teacher who were arrested in Azamgarh following the tragic incident where a girl student jumped off the school building. 

2. Cambridge University launches fellowship to study Indian indentured labour history.

The University of Cambridge has created the world's first visiting fellowship for the study of indentured labor, a system that replaced slavery during British colonization. 

3. 9 of 150 medical colleges initially under scanner continue to be barred from admitting students.

Nine private and trust-run medical colleges with a total of 1,500 seats are barred from admitting students for the current MBBS batch (2023-2024). 

4. GATE 2024 Website Launched, Applications Likely To Begin On August 24.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has formed an expert panel to review regulations and schemes for marginalized communities in higher education, as per a Supreme Court order. 

6. Delhi government launches internship programme for environment and wildlife enthusiasts.

The Delhi government today launched an internship programme to engage youth in environmental and forestry pursuits. The internship portal was inaugurated during the fourth Van Mahotsav ceremony held at the Polo Ground of Delhi University.
