1. Education sector gets highest allocation in Delhi govt's budget 2023-24.

The Finance Minister of Delhi, Kailash Gahlot on Wednesday presented a Rs 78,800 crore Delhi budget in the legislative assembly for the financial year 2023-24. Gahlot presented the budget for the first time while it was the ninth consecutive budget for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).


2. UK May Partner With Kerala In Higher Education Sector Pinarayi Vijayan.

The United Kingdom has evinced interest to work with the Kerala government in the higher education sector among others, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Wednesday. Pinarayi Vijayan called on British Deputy High Commissioner, Chandru Iyer, here and discussed the potential in state's collaboration with the United Kingdom in the areas of healthcare, education, Fintech among others.


3. Andhra Pradesh Government Launches Online Portal To Facilitate School Admissions.

The Principal Secretary of School of Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) had notified the opening of the online portal for facilitating admissions under Section 12(1)(c) of the Right to Education Act (RTE) on 26th February 2023. This recent government order mandates the allotment of 25% of seats in Class I of all Private Unaided Schools, including IB/ICSE/CBSE/State syllabus schools in the state, and admissions under it have begun for the year from today.


4. SBI Foundation invites applications for Youth for India Fellowship 2023-24.

The 13-month fellowship provides a framework for educated urban youth – professionals or fresh graduates – to join hands and foster change with rural communities and NGOs across 17 states, as per a press statement by the SBI Foundation. Applicants must be citizens of India, overseas citizens of India or citizens of Bhutan and Nepal.


5. Assam cabinet to provincialise 419 LP schools, 2 ME schools, 1 high school in tea gardens Ranoj Pegu.

The Assam cabinet will provincialise 419 lower primary (LP) schools, two middle English (ME) and one high school managed by the tea gardens in the state. The schools managed by the tea gardens will also receive mid-day meals, free textbooks and uniform for its students. Announcing this, the education minister of the state Ranoj Pegu said: “Assam Cabinet has decided to provincialise 419 LP schools, 2 ME schools and 1 High school run by the Tea Garden managements in Assam.”


6. IIT Madras to Develop ‘Extended Reality’ Centre for SAIL.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is going to develop an ‘Extended Reality’ (XR) Centre for Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). The centre, coming up at Management Training Institute (MTI), a unit of SAIL located at Ranchi, would showcase the latest augmented reality /virtual reality/mixed reality (AR /VR /MR) and haptic technologies.
