Recent education announcements have brought important information for students, parents and candidates across Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana. The developments cover revised school admission age requirements, recruitment scorecards, technical examination admit cards, and fee payment deadlines for the 2027 Intermediate examinations.

Maharashtra Introduces Phased Age Criteria for School Admissions

The Maharashtra government has announced revised minimum age criteria for Nursery to Class 1 admissions, with implementation beginning in the 2027-28 academic session. The policy aims to establish a uniform age framework across schools following different education boards.

Under the phased plan, the minimum age requirements will be introduced as follows:

  • Nursery: Three years from the 2027-28 academic session

  • Junior KG: Four years from the 2028-29 academic session

  • Senior KG: Five years from 2029-30

  • Class 1: Six years from 2030-31

Children's ages will be assessed against the prescribed cut-off date of June 30th. Schools may also provide an age relaxation of up to 15 days under the revised provisions. Students already enrolled under the existing system during 2026-27 will remain exempt from the new requirements.

Parents planning their children's admissions should check the applicable rules and confirm the requirements with their chosen schools before submitting applications.
