The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) has released hall tickets for its Kannada Viva Voce Test, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has published a revised result for the General Duty (GD) Constable recruitment examination, and the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) has issued admit cards for its Assistant Mains examination. Separately, the Allahabad High Court has clarified whether universities can be compelled to accept Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) scores instead of University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores for PhD admissions.

KPSC Hall Ticket 2026 Released for Kannada Viva Voce Test

The Karnataka Public Service Commission has released hall tickets for the Kannada Viva Voce Test under the Departmental Examinations (DE-2026 I-Session). Candidates who registered for the examination can download their hall tickets from the official website, kpsc.karnataka.gov.in, using their registration details. Candidates should follow the instructions provided by the commission for the test.

SSC GD Revised Result 2026 Published

The Staff Selection Commission released the revised result for the Constable (General Duty) recruitment examination on October 23rd, 2026. Candidates can access the updated lists through the official website, ssc.gov.in.

The revision follows the declaration of the original result on October 12th. The commission received representations from candidates seeking clarification about the categories displayed in the lists of female and male candidates provisionally shortlisted for the next stage.

The recruitment drive aims to fill 25,487 vacancies for Constable (GD) posts in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Secretariat Security Force (SSF), along with Rifleman (GD) positions in Assam Rifles.

The revised lists clarify both the category under which candidates applied and the category against which they were considered. Candidates should check the updated merit lists carefully and follow subsequent instructions regarding the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST).

NICL Assistant Mains Admit Card 2026 Available

The National Insurance Company Limited has released the admit card for the Assistant Mains examination. Candidates who qualified in the preliminary examination can download their call letters from nationalinsurance.nic.co.in.

The Mains examination is scheduled for October 30th, 2026. The recruitment drive covers 500 Assistant vacancies.

The examination will comprise objective-type questions carrying a total of 200 marks, with a duration of 120 minutes. The five sections are Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge.

Candidates should log in using their registration number and password or date of birth to access the admit card. They should also verify their examination centre, reporting time, and other details before the test. The call letter is available during the announced download window, which runs until October 30th.

Allahabad High Court Clarifies JEST and UGC NET Requirements for PhD Admission

In an important ruling concerning doctoral admissions, the Allahabad High Court has held that a university prescribing UGC NET as an eligibility requirement cannot be compelled to accept a JEST score as a substitute.

The court dismissed a petition filed by a candidate seeking permission to attend a PhD admission interview at Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University in Lucknow for the 2025-26 academic session. The candidate argued that his JEST score should be accepted in place of UGC NET.

The university maintained that it had adopted UGC NET-based eligibility criteria and included them in its admission prospectus. The court observed that recognition of JEST as a national-level examination does not require every university to accept its scores for doctoral admissions.

The ruling highlights the importance of checking the qualifying examinations specified in individual university prospectuses before applying for a research programme.

What Candidates Should Do Next

For candidates navigating upcoming examinations and research opportunities, these updates offer a timely reminder to review official notices, confirm eligibility criteria, and keep track of important deadlines. EducationNewsNetwork continues to cover developments that matter to students and job seekers across the country. Applicants should use the relevant official portals to download their documents, review revised results and confirm the criteria applicable to their chosen programmes.

Missing an examination deadline or overlooking an eligibility condition can affect an application. Candidates should therefore keep their registration details accessible, follow official announcements and verify any changes before taking the next step.

With examination dates approaching and recruitment processes moving forward, checking the latest notices remains essential for candidates seeking to complete their examinations or pursue further studies.
