The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced the MeriPehchaan single sign-on facility for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2027 registration process. The new system allows candidates to access the application process through a government-backed digital identity platform, adding a new step to the registration procedure for one of India’s major engineering entrance examinations. The facility has been introduced to simplify authentication and provide applicants with a common login system for accessing integrated online services. Candidates applying for the January 2027 session must familiarise themselves with the process and complete their applications within the prescribed deadline.
What Is MeriPehchaan?
MeriPehchaan is a single sign-on platform developed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. It integrates identity services such as DigiLocker, JanParichay, and e-Pramaan, enabling users to access supported digital services through a unified authentication system.
According to the JEE Main 2027 information bulletin, the platform also supports electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification through accepted identity documents and verification methods. Depending on the selected service provider and applicable requirements, candidates may be able to verify their identity using Aadhaar, PAN, a driving licence, or APAAR.
The facility is intended to make the initial login and authentication process more convenient. However, candidates must still complete the remaining JEE Main application formalities after accessing the registration portal.
How to Register Through MeriPehchaan for JEE Main 2027
Candidates who do not already have a MeriPehchaan account can begin by visiting the official government portal. They must follow the instructions provided to create an account and complete the necessary verification.
The registration process involves the following steps:
Visit the portal: Open the official MeriPehchaan website at meripehchaan.gov.in
Select ‘Register Now’: New users should choose the registration option to begin creating an account
Choose an identity provider: Select an available service provider, such as DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan
Enter personal details: Provide the information requested during registration, including details such as name, date of birth and mobile number
Complete identity verification: Follow the instructions displayed by the selected provider and use an accepted verification method
Return to the examination website: Visit jeemain.nta.nic.in and follow the instructions to complete the JEE Main 2027 application
Candidates should ensure that their personal details match their official documents. Once the login process is complete, they must enter their academic and other required information, upload the prescribed documents, pay the examination fee, and save the application confirmation page.
JEE Main 2027 Session 1: Important Dates
The NTA has opened the application window for JEE Main 2027 Session 1. Candidates should keep the following dates in mind:
Application deadline: 22nd November 2026
Application with late fee: 23rd to 26th November 2026
Application correction window: 27th to 29th November 2026
Examination period: January 2027, as specified in the official schedule
Applicants should check the official JEE Main website and information bulletin for the complete examination timetable, fee details, eligibility requirements and any subsequent announcements.
What Candidates Should Remember
The introduction of MeriPehchaan changes the way candidates access the JEE Main registration system, but it does not replace the complete application process. Applicants must provide accurate information, complete all required steps, and ensure that their applications are submitted successfully.
Candidates are advised to avoid waiting until the last date to register. They should also keep their login credentials secure and retain the application number, payment confirmation, and submitted form for future reference.
