Education Milestones Across India Reflect Progress, Recognition and New Opportunities

India’s education sector witnessed several noteworthy developments this week, reflecting the nation’s continued emphasis on quality learning, inclusive growth, and academic excellence. From the declaration of the EMRS Tier 2 recruitment results and Jammu & Kashmir achieving full literacy to the recognition of outstanding educators in Delhi and the inspiring messages shared during Shri Ram College of Commerce’s (SRCC) centenary celebrations, these developments underline the evolving priorities of the education ecosystem.

One of the significant announcements came from the Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), which declared the Tier 2 Result 2026 for candidates who appeared in the recruitment examination earlier this year. The recruitment drive aims to fill 7,267 teaching and non-teaching positions, including Principals, PGTs, TGTs, Female Staff Nurses, Accountants and other administrative roles. The initiative is expected to strengthen the functioning of tribal schools across the country by ensuring that qualified professionals are appointed to key positions.

Another major milestone was achieved by Jammu & Kashmir, which has officially been declared a fully literate Union Territory after recording a 98.43% literacy rate under the ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) initiative. Education Minister Sakina Itoo described the achievement as the result of the collective efforts of teachers, volunteers, officials and learners who worked tirelessly to extend educational opportunities across both urban and remote regions. While celebrating the accomplishment, the government also emphasised that literacy is only the beginning, with continued learning and lifelong education remaining key priorities.

Teachers also took centre stage as the Delhi Government honoured 116 teachers and principals with State Awards on Teachers' Day. During the ceremony, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving school education by upgrading infrastructure, strengthening curriculum delivery and addressing long-standing deficiencies in government schools. The recognition served as a reminder of the vital role educators continue to play in shaping future generations while encouraging greater investment in quality schooling.

Meanwhile, the centenary celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) provided an opportunity to reflect on India's educational journey and aspirations for the future. Addressing students, faculty members and alumni, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised SRCC's century-long legacy of academic excellence. They urged young people to dream bigger, innovate fearlessly, and contribute towards building a developed India. Highlighting the country's economic progress, technological advancements and entrepreneurial growth, he encouraged students to think globally while remaining committed to national development. His address also emphasised the importance of ambition, innovation and self-reliance in preparing the next generation of leaders.
