CBSE, IBPS, DU and West Bengal Announce Major Education Updates

India’s education sector has witnessed several important developments, with new announcements covering school payments, competitive examinations, university placements, and contractual employees. From the CBSE’s push for digital transactions to the release of the IBPS Clerk admit card, students, schools and education workers have several updates to keep track of.

CBSE asks schools to promote digital payments

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notice asking affiliated schools to promote the use of digital payments across school-related financial activities. The initiative is linked to a digital payments promotion plan developed by the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance. The plan aims to expand access to digital payments and encourage safe payment practices among schools, students and parents.

Schools have been advised to enable payment options such as Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and RuPay cards for fees, canteen services, library payments and other transactions. Institutions in areas with limited internet connectivity can also consider UPI Lite, UPI LiteX and UPI 123PAY. CBSE has recommended demonstrations and assisted payment models to help users become familiar with these facilities.

The Board has also suggested that schools join the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) for standardised fee collection and consider integrating it with their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Awareness campaigns and financial literacy activities for teachers, students and parents have also been recommended.

IBPS Clerk prelims admit card released

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the IBPS Clerk prelims admit card 2026. Candidates appearing for the preliminary examination can download their hall tickets through the official IBPS website. The admit card is available from October 1st to October 11th, 2026. The recruitment drive is being conducted for 11,403 posts.

The preliminary examination will carry 100 marks and include 100 objective-type questions across three sections: English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. Candidates will have 60 minutes to complete the examination. Those who meet the required sectional and overall cut-offs will be shortlisted for the Online Main examination.

The latest education updates by EducationNewsNetwork include examination and recruitment announcements such as this one, which are particularly important for candidates preparing for government and banking recruitment examinations.

Candidates should download the admit card well before the examination and check all details carefully. They are also required to carry a printed copy of the hall ticket when appearing for the examination.

Delhi University to organise AVASAR 2026

The University of Delhi will organise the second edition of its placement drive, AVASAR 2026, on October 7th. More than 85 organisations are expected to participate, while over 4,000 students have already registered for the event. The drive will be conducted by the Central Placement Cell under the Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare.

The event will take place from 9 am to 5 pm at the Multipurpose Hall at North Campus. It will be open to Delhi University students and will provide opportunities to explore jobs and internships across different sectors. AVASAR 2026 will also allow students to interact directly with employers and explore opportunities based on their academic qualifications and skills.

West Bengal increases remuneration for contractual employees

The West Bengal government has announced an increase in the monthly remuneration of various categories of contractual employees working under the state’s school education system. The revised remuneration came into effect from October 1st, 2026, following concurrence from the Finance Department and approval by the state Cabinet.

The enhancement covers contractual employees associated with the Paschim Banga Samagra Shiksha Mission, Paschim Banga Rajya Sishu Shakti Mission, Directorate of School Education and PM-POSHAN under the School Education Department. The government said the decision is aimed at strengthening financial support for contractual employees associated with the state’s education system.

These developments reflect the range of updates currently shaping education news, from changes in school-level financial practices and recruitment examinations to placement opportunities for university students and remuneration for education-sector employees.
